Hay Cathedral

What draws people to churches and temples? Is it their firm belief in their deity, is it the communal rituals or is it the physical manifestation of architectural wonder?

During my hike of Camino de Santiago I encountered many cathedrals and these structures demand a certain respect or recognition. But when hiking through the fields of northern Spain I encountered these gigant cubicle structures in the landscape. From a distance these abstract figures looked like they were dropped from the sky and left there for eternity.
When confronted with these structures I felt a certain respect or admiration for these simple farmer made structures. This is when I started documenting these objects and referring to them as Hay Cathedrals. With these photos I want to research the origin- and the necessity of spiritual buildings.
