Uproot

During my residency in Pictura I wanted to redefine the fundamentals of my art practise. This resulted in a large charcoal drawing of a photo I made in 2017. This drawing then was exhibited along with the manifesto my alter ego, David Hoack, wrote.
At the opening of the exhibition I did not answer any questions about my work. Instead I offered people a wet wipe and asked them to clean the wall until the wipe was saturated with charcoal. When done I took them back, folded them, put them in a small plastic bag, numbered them and gave them back to the person.
That night I was asked 24 questions.
